In the app on Android, you can tap the new People tab to show the locations of any contacts that are sharing their location with you. You can also switch to a tab that shows who you’re sharing your location with and gives you options such as changing the duration you share your location with someone.

Leith posits that the reason for this is due to the sign-in process on Android devices. Once you sign in with your Google account, you’re automatically signed into every Google app that comes preinstalled on the device from the Google Play Store to Gmail, and thus, the apps.

Google's Find My Device app has received an update that allows location sharing with friends and family. The update is powered by Google Maps, so if you've already set up location sharing there, you will see friends and family in the app.
