Beijing has pushed back against a US decision aimed at curbing Chinese-made artificial intelligence chips, a first sign of discord between the world’s two largest economies since they agreed to a trade truce last weekend.

China has blasted a new U.S. rule against use of Ascend computer chips made by Huawei Technologies anywhere in the world, chafing Thursday against the limitations of a temporary truce in the trade war between the two biggest economies.

SINGAPORE: The United States' Department of Commerce on Tuesday (May 13) issued new guidelines which state that the use of Huawei's Ascend AI chips "anywhere in the world" violates the country's export controls.
