A significant snow event will move into the Middle Tennessee region on Friday. Here's how much snow the greater Nashville area can expect.

Williamson County and other areas south of I-40 face a wind advisory on Sunday afternoon, with very cold temperatures forecast through the week.

At least 46 million people were under a winter storm warning as of Thursday as the storm spreads along the Gulf Coast Friday, according to the weather service. The storm should weaken by Saturday, bringing lighter snow between 1 and 3 inches to parts of the Northeast, the Mid-Atlantic and the Ohio Valley before exiting off the Carolinas.

Winter Storm Cora is sweeping through the Southeast and Ohio Valley, delivering a mess of snow and some ice from Tennessee to the Carolinas and Virginia, including Charlotte and Raleigh. The wintry mess is snarling travel and in some cases icing could be heavy enough to cause power outages and tree damage.
