UK's Reeves Says Did Not Mislead Public on Budget

The chancellor, who has been backed by the prime minister, has insisted 'of course I didn't' lie. So, what is the row all about?
PM's chief secretary says chancellor did not mislead him 'in the slightest'. Reeves is facing accusations she misled voters and ministers by not revealing the OBR had told her there would be a surplus in the public finances.
The UK's Office for Budget Responsibility says the budget leak was the "worst failure" of it's 15-year history.
As Reeves was questioned by Kuenssberg on her BBC show, she repeatedly stated that the government was asking people to make a small contribution to improve the country's finances. Not only did this anger viewers, but it also frustrated the former GMB host.
Making her Budget announcements, Reeves told MPs: “From April 2027, I will reform our ISA system, keeping the full £20,000 allowance while designating £8,000 of it exclusively for investment, with over-65s retaining the full cash allowance.”
"We won't have to do a budget like this ever again," Britain's finance minister Rachel Reeves declared a year ago, insisting she had restored stability to the public finances on her first attempt and would not be coming back for more tax rises.
