A New York grand jury indicted officers involved in the beating death of inmate Robert Brooks Sr. at Marcy Correctional Facility for second degree murder.

Murder charges have been announced in the death of Robert Brooks, a 43-year-old inmate who was beaten by guards at an upstate New York prison in December.

Brooks' son said waiting for the guards to be charged has been hard but he looks forward to witnessing this “step toward accountability.”
