The Supreme Court is allowing President Donald Trump’s administration to enforce a policy blocking transgender and nonbinary people from choosing passport sex markers that align with their gender identity.

The justices ruled, 6-3, that the State Department can require that U.S. passports reflect the sex noted on the holder’s birth certificate.

Trump is seeking to reverse a Biden policy that allowed transgender applicants to choose male, female or "X" as gender markers.
