New York City is getting ready to ring in New Year's Eve 2026 with the ball drop countdown in Times Square Wednesday night. Temperatures when the clock strikes midnight will likely be the coldest in eight years, and some snow could be flying along with the confetti.

The traditional ball in NYC will drop at the stroke of midnight on Jan. 1, 2026 in Times Square. A second celebration will follow just minutes later, marking a historic first for the iconic New Year’s Eve event.
