Indian authorities have started handing over remains of the victims of one of India’s worst aviation disasters after identifying some through DNA tests.

A high-level multi-disciplinary committee formed by the Centre to investigate the Ahmedabad Air India plane crash will submit its report within three months, Union minister Murlidhar Mohol said on Tuesday.

Captain Sabharwal’s mortal remains were flown to Mumbai early Tuesday morning and received by grieving family members at the airport before being taken to his home in Jal Vayu Vihar, Powai.

An Air India flight was forced to turn around and return to Hong Kong after an unspecified technical issue was discovered with the aircraft. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner—the same craft involved in last week’s devastating crash in Ahmedabad which killed over 270 people—was an hour into a flight to New Delhi when the pilot suspected a problem and turned around to avoid a repeat of the tragedy.
