LOS ANGELES - Elon Musk announced that SpaceX will provide free Starlink terminals to those impacted by the wildfires burning across Los Angeles County. He made the announcement Wednesday night while retweeting FOX 11's Chelsea Edwards who credited Starlink for providing connection and being able to broadcast.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced Thursday that his company would provide free internet access via its Starlink terminals to those affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles.

“SpaceX will provide free Starlink terminals to affected areas in LA tomorrow morning,” Musk said in a post on social media site X. Local media reports said that several news agencies were already using Starlink in the area, due to disruptions in cell services from the wildfires.

T-Mobile has opened up emergency texting over SpaceX's Starlink satellite network for areas affected by Southern California's fires.

The direct-to-cell Starlink system in Southern California will deliver wireless emergency alerts and power SMS texting to 911 services.

"SpaceX will provide free Starlink terminals to affected areas in LA tomorrow morning," Musk posted on social media.

While parts of LA remain without power, some TV news crews are using Starlink terminals to help broadcast. Neighbors are demanding action after four deaths in the same South Kansas City shopping center within three months.
