NEW DELHI -- India has indicated that it would continue buying oil from Russia despite threats by U.S. President Donald Trump. The Indian foreign ministry said its relationship with Russia was “steady and time-tested,” and should not be seen through the prism of a third country.

India has emerged as one of Russia's top oil buyers following Western sanctions that reduced prices. This situation has allowed Moscow to sustain important export earnings while offering New Delhi cheaper energy to support its expanding economy.
