Lamar lost a pitching duel 1-0 to a team from Fairfield, Conn., to open the Little League World Series on Wednesday in South Williamsport, Pa. Lamar starter Shane Grawe struck out 11 in five innings but allowed one run on a pair of hits and a walk in the fifth.

Lamar is taking on Fairfield National's Little League Team -- the first Connecticut team to make it to the Series since 2017. While Lamar hasn't made the tournament in recent years, it is the third Houston team in the past four years to reach the Little League World Series.

Lamar Little League from Richmond lost its World Series opener to Connecticut 1-0, and will now face the loser of today’s game between Irmo, South Carolina and Braintree American in an
