Umpire Scorecards, which uses MLB's advanced pitch tracking data to rate the accuracy of home-plate umpires and the impact of their calls on games, first launched on Twitter in 2020. But the site has an extensive database of hundreds of games dating back to 2015.

With the immaculate outing, Ripperger became just the second MLB umpire in the Umpire Scorecards era (since 2015) to turn in a “perfect game.” Pat Hoberg was the first to do so, pulling off the feat in the 2022 World Series between the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies.

The Royals defeated the Twins on Thursday. Umpire Scorecards shined a light on MLB umpire Mark Ripperger for what they concluded was a perfectly called game.
