According to a forecast map produced by AccuWeather, beginning on Wednesday night, there is a risk of severe thunderstorms in an area that spans parts of central, eastern and southern Texas. The severe weather could last until Thursday night.

The Texas Department of Safety tells an NBC affiliate in Texas that shots were fired toward Border Patrol agents from inside Mexico and possibly might have come from suspected cartel members.

More than 400 additional Texas National Guard troops arrived at the Texas-Mexico border Monday. Governor Greg Abbott deployed the troops to the Rio Grande Valley, where he said they'll work side-by-side with U.S. Border Patrol agents to keep migrants from illegally entering the country.
