With bitter cold and single digits forecasted, some school districts in Middle Tennessee will close on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for all of Middle Tennessee. Here's what to know about the dangerously cold temperatures.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Southern KY from 2 a.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday. Then, it goes into effect for parts of Middle TN from 6 p.m. Tuesday through 9 a.m. Wednesday. Clouds move in overnight Monday into Tuesday morning which will keep Tuesday morning’s lows in the teens. There could be some snow flurries in the morning.
Over the past few days, a blast of arctic air has whipped across the Southeast, bringing with it freezing temperatures and dangerously low wind chills. The East Tennessee region saw single-digit temperatures and sub-zero wind chills beginning the night of Jan. 19, according to the National Weather Service.
This is part of "the historic winter storm along the Gulf Coast and Southeast," the National Weather Service reported.
