Many people who don’t normally get to experience snow found unique ways to enjoy the rare sight this week as a historic winter storm moved across the South.

For the second time in two weeks snow is falling in Alabama, but on this occasion the weather event is targeted in the southern portion of the state. According to the National Weather Service, this winter storm could be “historic” for south Alabama with some counties potentially receiving up to 3 or 4 inches of snow on Tuesday.

Snow started falling on Monday across the Lone Star State because it wasn’t until Tuesday that records across the Gulf Coast were smashed. New Orleans officially recorded 8" of snow with plenty of reports of 8-12" around the Big Easy.

Seeing snow, and this much of it at that is a weather miracle for Lafayette, Chalmette, and Gulf Shores, Alabama. The Gulf Coast is seeing record-breaking snowfall across the board that people will reminisce about in the years to come.

Snow totals in Louisiana have broken records. Parts of Florida, Texas and Georgia have also accumulated several inches of snow.

The Gulf Coast is digging out from a once-in-a-lifetime snowstorm that struck from Texas to Florida, closing airports and crippling roadways.
