The Colorado Rockies have fired manager Bud Black after a 7-33, the worst record in Major League Baseball this season.
In their second game under interim manager Warren Schaeffer, the Rockies’ offense was once again a no-show in a 4-1 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday night at Globe Field. Schaeffer was named interim manager on Sunday when Bud Black was fired.

SB Nation on MSNColorado Rockies game no. 41: Chase Dollander vs. Tyler MahleBefore the coaching staff news, the Rockies snapped an eight-game losing streak by beating the San Diego Padres 9-3. It was their third losing streak of eight games this season, and one of four in all of MLB in 2025 (the Chicago White Sox holds the other).
The Colorado Rockies’ season is already off to a bad start. Bud Black’s team had a rough month in April, and aren’t turning things around in May. Thursday’s blunder against the Detroit Tigers is the latest lowlight of their season.
For the next week or so, Kris Bryant, the Colorado Rockies designated hitter, will be restricted to not much more than a casual walk as he recovers from a procedure to fix his bothersome back, and the team has said there is no timetable for his return.
