The series by creator Noah Hawley is described as a spin-off to the original Ridley Scott-directed film, " Alien ," from 1979. The film follows a space crew aboard the starship, Nostromo, who are on their journey back home when they receive a distress call from an alien vessel.
There are a total of eight episodes in Alien: Earth Season 1. New episodes will roll out on FX and Hulu on Tuesdays at 8 PM ET from now through Tuesday, September 23. The first two episodes of Alien: Earth, which aired on August 12, 2025, on FX/Hulu, are shining achievements of gnarly sci-fi horror telling as well as incredible pieces of world-building for a universe many of us have come to know and love over the decades.
Earth” ends with a five-star, no-notes needle drop (or choice of a pre-existing song). A tone of dread has been set throughout the episode, in which we learn that corporations, technology, and military rule in this future world.
FX’s Alien: Earth, a prequel set in 2120, expands the Alien franchise by combining established science fiction horror elements with a storyline influenced by Peter Pan.
