An investigation is underway after human remains were found in eastern Plumas County. On Sunday, dirt bike riders located what appeared to be human remains in an area south of Highway 70 and west of Clio State Route 40A.

Due to the elements and decomposition, a positive identification of the remains cannot be made immediately. There is evidence at the scene suggesting the remains may belong to a Portola resident, Anthony Evans who is a previously reported missing person from December of 2023. The investigation is ongoing.
