The Spanish Met Office has now officially named Storm Herminia, which is set to bring more wet and windy weather to Ireland on Sunday and Monday

Ireland is set for a mix of harsh weather over the coming days in the wake of Storm Eowyn as Met Eireann has issued a number separate weather warnings for snow, wind and rain with some counties placed under a number of Weather Warnings.

Met Éireann has predicted a cold morning with icy stretches and also with the risk of some sleet and snow showers, adding that there will be isolated thunderstorms. This may hamper efforts to restore power the the thousands still left without light, heat, and water.

Met Eireann warned there will be dangerous travelling conditions and further damage to already weakened structures and trees following Storm Eowyn

The number of homes and busineses without electricity has increased to 715,000 as Storm Eowyn continues to rage across Ireland.

Storm Eowyn brought severe destruction across Ireland overnight. Met Eireann reported gusts of 185kmh at Mace Head, Co Galway which smashed the old all time record of 182kmh in Limerick in 1945. Over 560,000 homes and businesses have been left without power this morning.

Ireland's national weather service says the country has seen 114 mph wind gusts, the highest ever recorded on the island.

Storm Éowyn has caused power cuts, disrupted rail travel and brought down trees in the. While the region escaped the high winds seen in northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, there were gusts of more than 50mph (80kmph) in places.
