Tropical Storm Erin is moving quickly and forecast to become the first hurricane of the Atlantic season by the "latter part of this week," the National Hurricane Center said Monday. Erin had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and was moving west at 21 mph,

Tropical Storm Erin formed on Monday, with AccuWeather predicting it may strengthen into a major hurricane later this week.

The National Hurricane Center issued its first advisory on the fifth-named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season at 11 a.m., warning Erin could become a hurricane by Wednesday, Aug. 13 and a major hurricane by Saturday, Aug. 16, as it moves quickly west across the Atlantic.
