On October 3, 1849, the bark, La Grange arrived in Sacramento City. The La Grange, owned by the Salem and California Mining and Trading Expedition, left Massachusetts with 61 men in March 1849 bound for California looking to seek fortune during the Gold Rush. Upon its arrival in Sacramento City, it was moored (secured) near the foot of I Street on the Sacramento River. If you have watched many of our videos from the print shop, you’ll notice we mainly print with copy paper or card stock. This press run is a little different as Jared letterpress printed the Sacramento History Museum logo and contact information on brown paper bags using a 4x6 Golding Official No. 2 tabletop printing press. About 100 bags were printed on this press run using Pantone PMS 7533c rubber base ink. A dab of ink was added to the ink disk after every 10-15 prints. When it comes to print
