We added a 30% shade cloth over our cucumbers last year. We have cucumbers growing up PVC lattice and they are secured into the garden with metal fence posts. We have fence posts on both sides of the lattice to keep the weight balanced. We put up a 30% shade cloth over our cucumbers last season. The shade cloth came from @tractorsupply and we made a PVC frame for it. Which was attached to metal fence stakes.
