Welcome to Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, where you can explore over 120,000 acres of open riding area for off-highway vehicle adventure To protect critical habitat for the Peirson’s milk-vetch (PMV) plant, roughly 9,000 acres of the dunes are closed to mechanized vehicles. PMV is a pale green perennial plant that can easily be confused with other native plant species in the dunes. Thank you for recreating responsibly and looking out for red signs marking the closure.
