If you’re growing an amaryllis bulbs indoors this winter it’s a good idea to cut the entire stock back when all of the blooms have faded on that stem. This keeps the plant from wasting energy on that stem now that it is complete. Make sure not to damage any other stocks where the flowers have not bloomed yet or any leaves. I think it’s a great idea for everyone to have a pair of garden snips or garden scissors around for making cuts like this where we don’t want to damage the other plant tissue.

Deadheading your amaryllis after blooming is an important step for the plant’s long-term health and future performance.
