The bobcat, also known as the bay lynx, or "pichou" in Cajun, is a shy wary predator. The bobcat is Louisiana's only surviving wild cat, and occurs statewide in heavily forested areas. The term “lynx” is actually a genus that consists of four types of lynx. The bobcat is also known as the red lynx – part of the lynx genus – so it’s no wonder the two are often confused! The main difference between the two are their sizes. Lynx are larger in size and can be up to 64 lbs, while bobcats are smaller and can be up to 34 lbs
